If you haven’t already experienced the amazingness of a Dideridoo Mediation with Dr Matt Lyon and don’t have plans this Friday (10/25), you should definitely think about checking it out. A few months ago, I attended my first didgeridoo mediation and was completely enthralled with the experience.

I can’t remember exactly what Dr. Matt said at the beginning of class, but it was something honest, simple and profound. And it had the effect of cutting through pretense and uniting everyone in the room. After a few minutes of silence, Dr. Matt led us in a guided mediation and then started to play the didgeridoo. If you’ve never heard one played before, the sound is a bit strange but not at all unpleasant. It’s deep, woodsy and penetrating. However, it’s the vibrations that are most noticeable. They’re powerful and seem to have a presence all their own as they fill the air and wash over your body in heavy waves.

Be Yoga Birthday Didg1I felt as if the vibrations were gathering up inside me until my own energy seemed to hum and flow at that same frequency. It’s hard to describe, but I’d say it’s similar to the feeling of having butterflies in one’s stomach, except it’s more intense and all over your body. At that point, I sensed a subtle shift in my consciousness and tapped into something that felt like unconditional love. And that’s pretty much where I stayed for the rest of the mediation – just basking in that energy and exploring this newfound new place of being.

The mediation lasted for about 90 minutes, which felt surprisingly long and oddly short at the same time. I guess because when you’re in it, time behaves differently, and it feels like you’re going through much more than you’re able to process. What I did immediately notice was how rejuvenated I felt – and peaceful and calm and clear-headed. I was also delighted to find that I was able to reach a higher state of consciousness in my own meditation practice, which was an extremely exciting development for me.

So, whether you’re looking to deepen your meditation practice or just want to experience a really amazing internal connection, a unique and profound didgeridoo journey awaits you!
