Teacher Spotlight – Terese

  1. How did you discover Nia?

“Through a friend of mine, who is a Nia Black Belt Instructor in Minneapolis.  I was in recovery from an automobile accident, diagnosed with Fibromyalgia, in addition to a 22 year spinal cord injury…I needed help!”

  1. What benefits have you seen in your body since taking and teaching Nia?

“First off no more pain! I am moving better in my 40’s than in my 20’s and 30’s.  I have regained full mobility of my head, neck and spine. I have such an awareness and appreciation of my body.  My body has also toned and trimmed.  It is healthy and happy!”

  1. How many years have you been teaching and taking Nia?

Terese Shoen (1)“7 years”

  1. Can anyone take a Nia class?

“Absolutley! Nia is a practice for life… for all ages, all body types.  No experience necessary and it is a practice for all fitness levels.

  1. What does Nia mean to you?

“Nia means fun, freedom, I don’t have to be perfect.  It makes me feel good, having gratitude for my mind, body and spirit.”

  1. Why should I take a Nia class?

“We are made to move, with ease, Joy and be pain free.  We have 1 life, 1 body, why not live it with Joy!”
